mad tom trio

duo of traditional english music for keilis, concerts and workshops.

rachel goodwin - calling, piano, vocals

emmanuelle roch - violin, viola

hervé dréan - whistles, bouzouki, guitar

mad tom plays traditional music for dancing in keilis, and runs english dance workshops in the "e-ceilidh" style. this style has evolved over the last 20 years or so in britain, based on traditional country dancing or barn dancing but with more emphasis put on stepping as opposed to barn dances which are generally walked. the style appeals to all ages and social groups because it is such fun to dance ! the dances themselves are rarely very complicated but they are excellent social mixers and a very good time is always had by all.

photos from a workshop in soursac, correze 19 last october :

a video of one of our recent english keili dance workshops (in férel, brittany, april 2007). Just a few extracts to show you what sort of dances we do. The film is quite compressed (4,5Mo) so the quality isn't excellent but at least it will give you an idea. we always play the music ourselves for the workshops instead of using recordings.
